Whimsical Studies: Game Studies

The following collection of projects encompasses both personal and professional studies, each approached with a focus on iteration, fast-paced yet effective design, and, above all, enjoyment. These studies have been shaped by guidance from professors, collaboration with teams, and independent exploration, reflecting a diverse range of experiences and design processes.

Whimsical Studies: Landscape Studies

Under the guidance of Professors Jordan Hines and Brian Richter, I designed several landscape iterations for the University of Kentucky and its surrounding areas. Two notable projects include UK: Carpet, a plaza situated outside an art gallery, and Peeling Gardens, an installation at a local distillery. Both projects emphasized form, communal activity spaces, and large-scale gestures to craft unique moments that engage visitors and enhance the environment.

Whimsical Studies: Cubic Studies

Under the guidance of Professor Jason Scroggin, I began my academic design journey by exploring the study of cubes. With a focus on spatial voids and inspired by the work of pop artist Roy Lichtenstein, I created a series of cubic relationships and renderings. These explorations were aimed at transforming the simple cube into a conceptual space, pushing the boundaries of form and spatial perception.

Whimsical Studies: Chef Studies

An essential part of life is embracing adventure, and one way I do this is through exploring the culinary world. Inspired by one of my favorite tabletop games, Rival Restaurants by GapCloser Games, I challenged myself to cook every recipe featured in the game. This journey led me to prepare over 96 dishes from 14 diverse cultures and cuisines. Below are just a few of the more visually striking dishes from this flavorful adventure.

Whimsical Studies: Art Studies

As an avid designer, tabletop game enthusiast, and artist, I love merging these passions whenever possible. While I’ve always considered myself more of a technical designer than an artist or illustrator, I continuously push my boundaries by experimenting with illustration and other forms of art. I also enjoy commemorating legacy games—those you can only play once—by transforming them into wall art, preserving their unique stories in a visual, lasting way.
